On 17th of February 2021, I received an email which read “We are pleased to inform you that you have been shortlisted for the Personal Interview round at SJMSOM”. That  moment I remember having mixed emotions of happiness for the getting shortlisted and
anxiety for the interview.

SJMSOM provided us with PI preparation kit which worked as a guidance during my entire preparation. We were also assigned a buddy who was a student at SJMSOM. He provided an insider’s view to the college and communicating with him helped me gain perspective regarding the college and entire interview process.
In order to make interview process seemingly real and to make virtual interviews more interactive, gather platform was utilized. This was a different concept as it wasn’t incorporated in any other interviews of mine. Use of this platform gave an ostensive
interview experience as we were divided into groups and had to be seated on different tables in the auditorium. We could communicate with our seniors as well as other candidates on the day of interview. I really appreciate this effort taken by the seniors to bridge the gap between virtual and real interview process.

My interview panel had one professor of IIT Bombay, one alumnus of SJMSOM and one industry professional. The first five minutes of my interview revolved around my workexperience. As I am a recent graduate of 2020 batch, I was asked to demonstrate my
knowledge of mechanical engineering subjects and relate it to my current work. I was also asked questions on my internship project. The industry professional was an expert in material science so majority of the technical questions revolved around suitable material for various operations. There were also couple of general knowledge questions including the recent assembly elections and few facts of Covid-19. My interview ended with a behavioural question - If I were the Prime Minister of a country like India how would I have
motivated the entire nation for vaccination.

Conclusively my interview experience with SJMSOM was pleasant and amiable.
