Summary: In this video Hari tells us how his parents sold sweets on a push cart and then opened a Kirana Store to earn a living. He shares how being the youngest child in a line of 6 kids, he didn't have to shoulder responsibilities alone, but still had to struggle to convince his parents in order to study post 12th. He shares how he didn't know what to pursue post 12th and how his teachers at school helped him understand the options. He talks about preparing for IIT JEE and finding the competition tough as kids start preparing in Class 8-10 for getting into IITs. He then tells us about getting into JNTUK to pursue engineering and working with Accenture for a year. Hari then decided to pursue an MBA, and found himself look for a new job at the same time. If one didn't work out, the other would! He talks about getting a role at FTD and preparing for CAT simultaneously. He shares how, during this period, he started feeling something was wrong with him. He talks about being surrounded by friends and having ample opportunities, yet feeling dissatisfied and numb. A friend pushed him to seek therapy and meet a psychiatrist. Hari shares how he was put on medication during the time. His family wanted him to contribute to the home income, he lost a friend right before CAT and life was a mess. Hari talks about how he overcame all this to successfully crack CAT and IIM K. Further, Hari tells us about his first few months at IIM K being tough because he was on strong medication for depression and needed long sleep hours. While others were bonding over late night assignments and parties, Hari felt like an alien. But he had decided to outgrow his problems! And this decision and the will to follow through is what helped him overcome his issues. As Hari puts it, the serene IIM K campus was a Godsend too! He tells us how he was able to stop the medication and get back to somewhat normal! Here's a story of grit, determination and talking life as it comes.
