The Department of Financial Studies (DFS), earlier known as Master of Finance & Control (MFC), under the esteemed Delhi University, has been providing specialisation in the field of finance for the past three decades now. Tracing its roots in the Delhi School of Economics, DFS was carved out of the Department of Commerce of the University in 1987 to provide training in the field of finance. DFS used tooffer a two-year full time Programme, which was called Master of Finance & Control (MFC). From January 2015, the course became "MBA (Financial Management)", basically the same legacy with a new name, as per a resolution passed by the Academic Council, University of Delhi (DU). Eminent personalities in the field of Finance, including C. B. Bhave, Kamalesh Chandra Chakrabarty and M. Damodaran have served on the advisory board of the MFC course. The past Deans of the Department include some of the well-known educationists like Prof. M.Y. Khan and Prof. I.M. Pandey.
