Tracing its roots in the Delhi School of Economics, DFS was carved out of the Department of Commerce of the University in 1987 to provide training in the field of finance. DFS used tooffer a two-year full time Programme, which was called Master of Finance & Control (MFC). From January 2015, the course became "MBA (Financial Management)", basically the same legacy with a new name, as per a resolution passed by the Academic Council, University of Delhi (DU). The institute offers 2-Year MBA(FM) and Phd courses.
