Far away from home, I found a home and it’s IIM Shillong. A home that nurtures me for the next two years, to the world of opportunities. The campus is beautiful, the community around is interesting, the ‘nature’ around is homely. The sounds of mother Earth resonates in and around IIM Shillong. Must be it is the Tagore’s Shantinekethan. And definitely, it’s the hope of Dr. Kalam’s teachings.
As an old saying goes – learning starts at home. The same applies to IIM Shillong too. At IIM Shillong, the academics and pedagogy is not limited to the walls of the classroom. The initial session is on sustainable business practices. I experience the prominence of sustainability in this Institute of IIM Shillong in achieving its mission and vision. The initial session on sustainability did not confine itself to the walls of the classroom but drove us to the biggest classroom i.e., the community around and the ‘nature’ in the holy forests of Meghalaya. On the other hand, it inculcated me with the habit of looking at the world of business and management through the lens of sustainability. Such practical and live sessions at IIM Shillong inspired me to be a better manager from the day one and start the journey towards the best.
The competitions held at IIM Shillong internally through its clubs and committees are very competitive and ensures that we stay updated with the business on real-time basis. These help us in honing our skills in time management, public speaking skills and communication skills. The guidance form the seniors is very helpful in getting insights into various academic and future aspects of life. The life at IIM Shillong, I believe, is one of the most significant aspects of my life both in terms of career and the varied experiences I gather for my life learnings. The ‘Campus in Clouds’ is the ‘Adobe of my Dreams’.
Which ABG company would you want to work for?
Being a Chartered Accountant by profession, I am interested to explore the finance segment of investment management and advisory services. ABG operates in this segment of business through its arm, Aditya Birla Capital Advisors. ABG Group stood as the successfully market player with its principles of governance.
