Getting a 254 on my first NMAT attempt wasn’t just about hard work but about working differently. Here are some insights into the NMAT exam 2024 Preparation Strategies to get into that glass building:
- Paper Breakdown-
NMAT has a very different approach than other exams. The quantitative section is more calculation-oriented, and the Language section is more extensive than CAT. That’s why understanding and breaking down each section by topic is very important to help you focus on smaller and different topics that might not be asked in other exams
- Choose your poison-
NMAT like other exams has a fixed format but the biggest benefit is that you can choose your order on your own with each section having its timing. My strategy was to pick up my strongest section first and my weakest towards the end to have a positive start to the exam and my morale was high even towards the end.
- Be adaptive, just like the exam-
If you are completely new to the NMAT space then you might be surprised to know that NMAT is an adaptive exam which means what you do will affect the next questions that come to your screen, so if you keep on answering questions correctly then you will end up having tougher questions which are more rewarding to. - The only way is forward-
Unlike other exams where you can easily toggle between all the questions or at least the section that you are currently on, NMAT doesn’t let you review or change answers to previous questions and there’s no skip button either. So, in case you feel stuck or feel a question is taking too much of your time, just make an educated guess and move on to the next one.
- Marathon Practise-
Since this exam is also one of the lengthier ones, be prepared to endure the burn of this exam in the third section but I tried to avoid it by building high morale and confidence in the first 2 sections which helped me push through the third one easily
