Optimism and hard work are the two qualities that has been imprinted onto me since childhood by my parents. I hail from the town of Calicut in Kerala and I was lucky enough to receive all my schooling from one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. My teachers have taught me that education is not a measure of the grades or marks we receive but rather of the ability to distinguish the right course of action, which are aided by the values of honesty, punctuality and discipline.
I was not comfortable interacting with much people in my school days because I had tremors left of some Bullying experiences in my childhood. Joining Amrita School of Engineering complete changed my outlook as a person as my introverted nature had disappeared once I started my journey there. I started working with different people for projects as well as for extracurricular activities like dancing and soccer. This has helped improve my interpersonal abilities as well as to become a reliable team player. Soon I started leading my project and dance teams. This transition really improved my decision making and problem solving skills. It made me a responsible individual with good presence of mind. I started presenting research papers and projects which made me a very confident individual. I was also an active member of IEEE and was fortunate enough to coordinate “Robotsavam 2017”, an International Tech Fest exclusively for robotics.
I always felt that I was an underdog in terms making it to one of the top B schools in the country since I was a fresher and had no means of any kind of coaching for acing the entrance exams. But I found amazing will power to keep going even when people doubted me. I studied from books and used different online platforms to overcome difficulties in case of doubts. Once I cracked the exam, then came the next problem, a completely new region for a humble engineer from South India. The food, the climate and the language had completely changed. But again, I wanted to move out of my comfort zone to understand how it is changing my personality to a more adaptable version. Trying to understand different cultures and speaking their language has been fun for the last month.
The moment you overcome a difficulty, there is a sense of amazing happiness within which we cannot get from something else. However minute the task may be, the moment he has the guts to it, it completely changes his or her mindset about the whole topic. So I urge each and every living soul to not be afraid of the circumstances and go for it because “Nothing is Impossible” if you strive for it.
