Childhood is a great phase in any individual's life. Which is why we try to hang on to it even in the later phases of life. We are provided with some great cherished memories and also some memories that will revisit us as a challenge in later stages of life. Since childhood, I have always believed in this one line: "It is better to aim high and miss than to aim low and hit the target" and I have lived by this goal. But there are instances in life, where life tosses you and you don't even know where the target is anymore. One such hurdle I faced in my childhood is the language barrier. My family shifted to a new locality when I was 4 and to my horror, this place had a different language of its own. A language I was absolutely not familiar with. It took me a few days to realize that all sort of verbal communication in these parts was to be done in the "local" language only, which sounded extremely harsh for me as I was familiar with just Hindi. These hindrances led to people not talking to me, bullying me since I was skinny framed and eventually boycotting me for not knowing their language. Life was at a toss, nothing seemed to go on the right track. I suddenly was in an environment where all the kids and everyone in the locality hated me for something I never did. This forced me to become the quiet kid in the school. I dreaded stages or anything that involved group activities. At times I would fake medical emergencies to getting out of group activities as I feared I would be bullied. This anxiety followed me till I was in my 8th grade. Eventually one day I decided I need to change, and so did I. I tried performing on my own despite the group's continuous dismissal. This went on for days. After hearing multiple words, eventually I got used to it. I wore the invulnerability as my armor. Eventually I learned the local language too, but by then I was already "the outsider who would do the job nevertheless". From that day onwards the journey has been incredible. From a shaking 8th grader to representing Tamil Nadu in the 20th National Youth Festival, I believe I have come a long way. #ABGLP #ABGLP WOO ME - SEASON 2 #TAPMI #ADITYABIRLAGROUP #ABGLP TAPMI
