Aditya Birla has grown into one of India's leading conglomerates, and a major player in the world market. Aditya Birla Group was formed by Aditya Vikram Birla around 1960s which by then consisted of Grasim(Fibre and pulp, chemicals, cement and textiles),
Hindalco(Aluminium and Copper Manufacturing), and Indian Rayon(Supplier of cotton yarn).
“S
hop for Rs.
5000 to win gift vouchers worth Rs.
5000 and merchandise of Rs.
5000 each free on Aditya Birla Group merchandise!”. I was elated and amazed simultaneously while picking up garments out of Allen solly, Van heusen, Honey to name a few from the extremely popular retail outlet ‘PANTALOONS’.
Being a fashion enthusiast, I went on to shop for Rs. 10,000 at a mere cost of Rs. 5000. This is exactly how Aditya Birla Group made branded shopping at affordable price possible for me every other time I went on a shopping spree.
Aditya Birla Group was one of the few first Indian companies to make a mark in the foreign market.. Aditya Birla Group’s interest in textile goes way back to 1969 when Birla launched its first subsidiary, Indo Thai Synthetics, to produce and export synthetic yarns in Thailand. In 1975, the company launched a joint venture in the Philippines, to produce spun yarn. The company then expanded to Philippines to produce spun yarn.
I have a vivid teenage memory of my home built right in front of me. The empty plot with few iron rods here and there. Tons of cement accumulated in a corner of the plot in a heap and with it were hundreds of emptied UltraTech cement sacks.
UltraTech cement goes back to 1983 when Grasim, added cement production, launching the Vikram Cement plant at Jawad, in Madhya Pradesh. Now it is the largest producer of white cement in India.
Being a 21
st Century person, mobile is something I cannot imagine my life without. I am and have been a loyal customer of Vodafone Idea cellular network. Jio came, Jio captured but could not take away my loyalty towards them. I started hearing complaints about Jio over cross-connections and network failures and felt extremely secured with my choice of telecom.
The company entered the telecommunications market back in 1995 by forming a joint venture with AT&T of the United States, Birla AT&T. That company merged with Tata Communications in 2000, becoming one of the country's leading telecom groups. Now it is a parent company of India’s Largest Telecommunication network, Vodafone Idea.
Aditya Birla group dominates what I wear, where I stay and how I communicate. This itself confirms its significance in my life.
