Established under the umbrella of the prestigious University of Delhi (DU), the Department of Finance and Business Economics (DFBE) is situated across 69 acres of lush green South Campus of DU. Pioneering the country’s first Master’s Program in Business Economics back in 1973, the institute, for the past 47 years has been offering a Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in various business and economic research fields, the flagship programs among which are an MBA in Business Economics and MBA in Finance.
The MBA (Business Economics) specifically is a highly specialized course, which combines the study of economics and analytics in the traditional paradigm of an MBA. DFBE - DU additionally nurtures a base in Business Analytics and offers a double specialization among Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Analytics.

  1. Short-listing is done based on candidates’ CAT percentile and marks scored in Class X and Class XII Examinations. Candidates with the following undergraduate degrees receive extra weightage:
    • B. Com. (Hons.)
    • B. A. (Hons.) (Economics)
    • B. A. (Hons.) (Business Economics)
    • BBE
    • BBS/BMS
    • BFIA/BBA (FIA)
  2. The following weightage-system is followed for short-listing for GD/PI:
    • CAT Percentile - Weightage – 75%
    • Marks obtained in Class-X - Weightage – 10%
    • Marks obtained (best of four) in Class-XII - Weightage – 7.50%
    • Marks obtained in Mathematics/Business Mathematics in Class-XII Examination Weightage – 2.50%
    • Candidates with the above-mentioned Graduate Degrees - Weightage – 5%
  3. Final selection is based on CAT Scores, GD and PI Marks, and Marks Scored in Class X and Class XII Examinations.
  4. The following weightage-system is followed for short-listing for final selection:
    • CAT Score - Weightage – 60%
    • Marks obtained in Class-X - Weightage – 5%
    • Marks obtained in Class-XII - Weightage – 5%
    • Marks obtained in Group Discussion - Weightage – 7.50%
    • Marks obtained in Personal Interview - Weightage – 20%
    • Candidates with the above-mentioned Graduate Degrees - Weightage – 2.50%
  5. Please note, while the academic background is given weightage as indicated above, there is no separate weightage for work experience etc.
  6. Approx. the number of students called in each category is about 3 times the total number of seats in each category: General – 41, SC – 12, ST – 6, CW- 4, PH – 2, OBC- 23
