Ever since I decided to go for a post-graduation in management, I always wanted to pursue my MBA from a premier B-school. Before getting an admission offer from IIM Nagpur, I had offers from other reputed private B-schools, the ones established at least more than a decade ago. However, I was aware of the kind of brand value an IIM tag can add to my profile and henceforth, wanted to be a part of the IIM community. Having worked in the retail sector for about 18 months and then an internship with a start-up, so, with the kind of work experience I had, I was sure that I would add some diversity to the batch at IIM Nagpur or for that matter any other premier B-school.
On my very first day at IIM Nagpur, I realised my contribution to the academic diversity of the batch. I was the only hotel management graduate in the batch, and people were asking me a lot of questions related to my academics and work experience. This new experience made me feel unique and confident. Because of the various events planned by our seniors during the induction week, I got a chance to interact with almost everyone in my batch. I was quite reserved during my school and college days because of which I was reluctant to participate in the cultural activities. At IIM N, it was the first time in my life that I tried to open up as several opportunities were presented to me. The case discussions that we have almost every day are actually bringing out the best out of me.
After a few weeks, the time came for club inductions for which the entire batch was eagerly waiting for. The Clubs and committees followed a specific process to induct people and encouraged everyone in the PGP 2019-21 batch to apply. I applied for the HR club of IIM Nagpur, THRIVE, because of my curiosity in the HR area, not from the perspective of having an MBA degree in the same but from learning and exploring it through the club activities. The interviews went quite smoothly, and I was able to see how the entire batch was interested in getting into the clubs. After the interviews, I was eagerly waiting for the results, and I was confident about getting into THRIVE and luckily, I was amongst the four members who were inducted into the HR Club. Now, I have the mammoth task of bringing the club, from a special interest group to a fully-fledged academic club. I have a few plans in my mind to put on the discussion table to achieve this target. This is one of my goals during my next two years of MBA life, and I am sure of meeting it.
Of course, the other ones include getting a good grade, participating in different competitions, trying my level best in every competition that I take part in. Lastly, like any other individual in my batch, I would also like to secure a decent job (with an inclination towards the FMCG/Retail sector). As of now, based on these two months of experience at IIM Nagpur, I am sure of achieving all my goals comfortably.
