Prateek Gurani, originally from the small town of Jind in Haryana, pursued his Bachelor's in Engineering in Computer Science at MRIIRS in Delhi NCR. He gained professional experience as an ETL Developer at ADP Hyderabad, focusing on problem-solving in data management and transforming data for client requirements. During his nearly 2-year tenure at ADP, he developed valuable skills in effective communication and recognized the importance of teamwork. Prateek then transitioned to pursuing an MBA at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing badminton and table tennis, and his interests include streaming geography videos on YouTube, with Reallifelore being one of his favorite channels. Additionally, he is passionate about volunteering and has contributed to the RobinHood Army in Gurugram Cluster, serving underprivileged individuals by distributing excess food. Prateek Gurani demonstrates a strategic approach to problem-solving through an example from ADP Pvt. Ltd. The challenge involved migrating data from diverse legacy systems to the ADP Workforce Now platform. Prateek's approach included understanding client requirements, mapping and transforming data, thorough testing and validation, and effective coordination and communication. The emphasis on client-centricity, meticulous planning, and data integrity showcases his problem-solving capabilities. Handling failure, Prateek shares a setback during a project that negatively impacted data load and the project's deadline. He emphasizes the lessons learned, including immediate ownership, effective communication, and the importance of resilience and adaptability in a changing workplace. In a difficult ethical decision during a data translation project, Prateek prioritized honesty over expediency. He communicated potential consequences of skipping validation steps, emphasizing the value of integrity. This decision required additional work and cooperation but ultimately resulted in a successful data transformation. Describing a negotiation situation during a data load project, Prateek faced pressure to use a faster method without data validation. Through effective communication, he presented a case for the importance of validation steps, drawing on a past project's experience. His commitment to accuracy and assurance of additional effort led to a successful negotiation. For candidacy as one of India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2023, Prateek highlights his diverse academic background, proven professional track record at ADP, leadership roles, continuous learning through certifications, problem-solving and innovation, and passion for giving back. His well-rounded profile and commitment to growth align with the qualities of promising MBA students.
