Pratyush, the child of a serving army officer, has lived in 16 different cities across India in his 27 years. This diverse upbringing has shaped his appreciation for diversity and enhanced his interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Excelling in academics and co-curricular activities, he became a school topper and pursued mechanical engineering at NITK. In college, he held leadership positions, including Students' Council president and Charter VP for Rotaract Club. Pratyush ventured into entrepreneurship with a startup and later joined ExxonMobil's petrochemical division, receiving recognition for his contributions. Currently pursuing an MBA at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, Pratyush serves as the batch representative, demonstrating his commitment to leadership and making a positive impact in the professional world with his diverse experiences and accomplishments. Pratyush Giri exemplifies a structured approach to problem-solving with a complex issue at ExxonMobil. Faced with supply chain inefficiencies, Pratyush identified root causes, employed data-driven analysis, fostered collaboration, applied Lean principles, monitored progress, and emphasized change management. The result was a significant reduction in transportation costs, lead times, and excess inventory. This experience reinforced the power of structured problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and collaboration. Handling failure, Pratyush views setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth. He emphasizes the importance of resilience, tenacity, adaptability, and maintaining a purpose-driven approach. Drawing lessons from co-founding a startup, he highlights the positive aspects of the experience, such as learning from mistakes and embracing change. In a difficult ethical decision at ExxonMobil, Pratyush faced a potential bribe during negotiations. Upholding ethical standards, he diplomatically declined the offer, informed superiors and the legal team, and maintained transparency. The decision was vindicated as negotiations continued on ethical terms, reinforcing the importance of integrity in business. Describing a negotiation situation during his role as the Charter Vice President of the Rotaract Club, Pratyush tackled challenges related to the pandemic and volunteer engagement. He initiated virtual meetings, highlighted the sense of community and purpose, and organized virtual volunteering events. By actively participating and motivating volunteers, he successfully blended virtual and on-ground activities.
