Tell me something about yourself' - This is the interviewer's invitation for you to own the interview. In this video, we look at how you can tackle different aspects of the interview. Reliance Industries and InsideIIM bring you Summertime Madness, a unique series to help one tackle interviews for a job and internship.
The next set of questions will revolve around your CV and your knowledge. So prepare well enough to be able to substantiate every point mentioned in the CV with stories and specific insights/learnings. If you have lied in the CV, it will come through in the interview. Also be prepared for questions on the lines of "Tell me of a time when.." Where you need to bring out relevant stories from your life. We have tackled case studies in a separate video, but also be thorough on the subjects that may be relevant for the particular company you are applying to intern at. Prepare so much that you can be spontaneous during the interview, without having to think. I have noticed that practising some of these answers in front of a mirror helps immensely. Hey, we have some interesting courses to help you prepare better for the Summer Placements. Check it out here! The other toughie in an interview is the questions you can ask the interviewer. Questions enquiring about the interviewer's typical day at work, Connecting recent Government policy to future impact on sector, Bringing up a personal question on an interviewer's interests you may have picked during the interview. People love to talk about themselves. Ask questions on the internships like - Whats a good internship contribution according to you. What's the support can I expect from the company while I am working there. Don’t ask questions that can be googled (gfx of googling "Is XYZ ltd working on Saturdays?" Hey, we have some interesting courses to help you prepare better for the Summer Placements. Check it out here!
