Martin Luther King Junior once said, "Life's persistent and most urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'". We are often consumed by our dreams, needs and blessings. What we often forget is that our calling is also to share from our share of blessings with those that aren't as blessed as we are. In an institution of unstoppable go-getters, it's important to inculcate the sheer value of being a go-giver while also making an impact in the lives of the marginalised. With that aim in mind, the Social, Entrepreneurship and Consulting Cell of SIBM Pune is organising the 12th edition of its annual flagship social event, Prerna. An initiative aimed at serving the underserved, an opportunity to reach out to the young and old from the marginalised communities and a gateway to a better tomorrow. Through Prerna, awareness, educational seminars, and meaningful drives are conducted for the marginalised sections of society on some of the most pressing issues to bridge the inequality gap. Guided by the theme, 'Empowering Minds, Inspiring Change', four initiatives are going to be conducted in the first half of March under the banner of this event. The first session will be for children coming from 8th and 9th grade of the Zilla Parishad school of Nande village. As these children explore through absolutely defining years of their life, the topic that the session will address would be 'Career Opportunities and Skill Development'. Another session will be conducted for villagers coming from the Chande village in an attempt to educate them about 'Government Schemes for Rural Entrepreneurs' and encourage the spirit of self-employment and self-sufficiency. The last session will be for the ones that tirelessly contribute towards the successful running of the institution, the staff of Symbiosis International University. This session will be conducted on the topic, 'Personal Excellence, Health and Wellbeing'. Apart from the sessions, a dental drive will also be conducted in collaboration with the Dentistry department of SUHRC for the people of Pirangut Village, Pune. We cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world surely needs all the good that we can do. Let's all join SIBM's initiative towards building a better tomorrow. Let's not shy away from making a positive impact. Let's voice the needs that often go unsaid. Let's be beacon bearers of change that let this ripple of positivity turn into a strong wave of hope and happiness!
