The latest QS MBA rankings for 2023 are out! This year, four Indian b-schools have made it to the top-100, with IIM Ahmedabad leading the pack and featuring amongst the world's top-50 business schools (for the fifth consecutive year). In the overall scheme of things, Stanford GSB, Harvard Business School, and The Wharton School feature amongst the top-3 global business schools in the world, ahead of HEC Paris, INSEAD, London Business School, Columbia, and other highly sought-after business schools. Here's a look at what the QS MBA rankings for 2023 look like.
QS MBA rankings 2023: Key highlights
- Stanford GSB ranks as the world's top business school as per the latest QS MBA rankings, coming in ahead of Harvard (2nd) and Wharton (3rd) in the overall rankings
- In terms of employability, London Business School takes the top spot, followed by Stanford, Sloan, Kellogg, and Harvard in the top-five
- HEC Paris tops the 'return on investment' list, at par with SDA Bocconi, Mannheim Business School, ESCP Europe, and the Otto Beisheim School of Management
- Four Indian b-schools make it into the top-100: IIM Ahmedabad (ranked 44th), IIM Bangalore (ranked 50th), IIM Calcutta (ranked 68th), and ISB (ranked 78th)
- Indian b-schools were also amongst the least diverse in the entire list, with IIMs ABC taking the bottom-three spots in the diversity rankings. ISB wasn't too far away, ranked at 94th in terms of diversity.
Stanford GSB tops the list, Harvard and Wharton in the top-three | QS MBA rankings 2023
In the 2023 QS MBA rankings, Stanford GSB has emerged as the top global business school, outranking Harvard, Wharton, HEC Paris, LBS, Sloan, IE Business School, Columbia, and INSEAD, which made up the top-10. American and European business schools dominate the top-100, with a fairly lower proportion of Asian and Oceanic business schools making it to the top-100.

- Thought leadership: Penn (Wharton), MIT (Sloan), Cambridge (Judge), Oxford (Saïd), UC Berkley (Haas)
- Return on investment: HEC Paris, SDA Bocconi, Mannheim Business School, ESCP Europe, Otto Beisheim
- Entrepreneurship and Alumni Outcomes: Stanford GSB, Harvard Business School, IE Business School, London Business School, MIT (Sloan)
- Employability: London Business School, Stanford GSB, MIT (Sloan), Northwestern (Kellogg), Harvard Business School
- Diversity: ESCP Europe, University of Edinburgh Business School, ESSEC Business School, Warwick Business School, Toronto (Rotman)
IIM-A tops the list of Indian b-schools, IIM-B comes in second | QS MBA rankings 2023
- IIM Ahmedabad has ranked the highest amongst Indian b-schools in the QS Global MBA rankings of 2023. The institute has consistently outranked other Indian b-schools over five years.
- IIM Ahmedabad does very well on the Entrepreneurship and Alumni Outcomes parameter, ranking amongst the world's top-25 business schools in this aspect and outranking the likes of Michigan (Ross), Carnegie Mellon (Tepper), Duke (Fuqua), Cornell (Johnson), SDA Bocconi, and many other leading business schools.
- Indian b-schools don't fare too well across the Thought Leadership, Return on Investment, and Diversity parameters of evaluation. In fact, the three IIMs rank right at the bottom of the Diversity parameter.
