Samartha Wanikar is currently pursuing an MBA from XLRI. Before this, he worked as a Decision Analytics Associate at ZS Associates in the Business Insights and Analytics team. He was recognized as the game changer for delivering exceptional performance and maintaining excellent client relations. For his undergraduate studies, Samartha attended ICT-Mumbai, where he majored in Chemical Technology and was awarded the Best Outgoing Student for his achievements in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. During his time at the university, he served as the President of one of India's oldest student-run scientific journal clubs and also captained the college cricket team. Hailing from a middle-class family in the small town of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Samartha was fortunate enough to receive a quality education and work in diverse environments in Mumbai and Pune. In his free time, he enjoys playing cricket and badminton, and he even participated in the CBSE Nationals badminton tournament during his school days. Education has been a transformative force in his life, which is why he dedicates some of his spare time to teaching underprivileged school kids. Samartha Wanikar's problem-solving approach involves a systematic four-step process, illustrated by his successful revival of The Bombay Technologist. Facing challenges, including plagiarism issues and rebuilding trust, he implemented stringent measures, fostered innovation, and achieved a tripled readership, showcasing the power of resilience and teamwork. Handling failures as learning opportunities, Samartha's setback in misunderstanding the IIT entrance exam marking system became a driving force for success at ICT. This experience instilled a growth mindset, emphasizing resilience and adaptability in facing challenges. In an ethical dilemma during a cultural fest, Samartha confronted a team member promising inflated footfall numbers to food vendors. Emphasizing honesty and integrity, they renegotiated with vendors, demonstrating the importance of ethical conduct even in challenging situations. Samartha's negotiation skills shone during a predictive model project at ZS Associates. Mediating between stakeholders with differing opinions, he used data-driven insights to build consensus, emphasizing the importance of effective negotiation, data-driven decision-making, and robust communication. His candidacy for India's Most Promising Incoming MBA Students 2023 is supported by a unique blend of professional experience, academic achievements, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to impact India's business landscape. His passion for contributing to India's growth and innovation, coupled with a love for what he does, positions him as a strong contender for this recognition.
