Dejected from previous night’s rejection in the Group Discussion round I woke up just to realise I had only 15 minutes to make it to the pre-placement talk of Ernst & Young. Somehow hurriedly I made it just in time only to doze off through the talk. I was woken up by someone calling out my name and asking me to check the mail. To my great joy as well as horror I had made it through the first round (held earlier) to the interview round of EY. I was happy for being amongst the selected few who had made it to the second round. t the same time, I was fearful of losing out on EY. After two exhaustive rounds of interviews, I finally made it to EY for the 8 weeks internship program. Come April, and I was at the EY office, full of excitement on how the next 8 weeks would pan out. There was a myriad of opportunities for me to explore, all the things I had learnt in the classroom would be put to use. The induction helped break ice with fellow interns and mentors. I was aligned with the Technology and Telecoms team. I was assigned a project on the e-retailing industry. While working on the project I had to rely on a lot of industry reports and that helped me develop an insight on the sector. The work was so engrossing that one would forget where the work ended and the fun started. During the course of the internship I developed a keen interest on the e-commerce sector. Only after going through numerous reports could I understand the dynamics of the e-tailing industry. Working closely with the industry experts helped me gain an insight on what goes into providing such deep-pocketed discounts and the sheer scale of logistic networks that these organisations have.  My mentors were supportive throughout and gave me the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. The project culminated with a presentation to a 5 member panel consisting of the senior management. The internship program was a great learning exercise. The 8 weeks helped me appreciate the level of detailing that goes into such important projects. The experience reinforced my belief in following my dreams and being passionate about the work one does. At the end the gala lunch hosted by the top management for the interns at Hyatt Place, Gurgaon left me wanting more of EY.     Sankalp Anukul Class of 2019 Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar
