16.2 million adults in the USA alone have an episode of depression once a year. Over 5 crore people in India suffer from depression. In fact, WHO lists suicide among the top three causes of death in the age group 15-35 in India. The motive when students kill themselves is invariably academic pressure – this accounts for 99 per cent suicides.
Anxiety or stress, if untreated, can become chronic. Result? You could become depressed, or suffer from any other mental health issue. And if statistics are to be believed, students can achieve a new level of stress in b-schools.
