With the world shifting towards an ecological aspect in each business arena, it is now evident that without sustainability, the road ahead will be challenging and lead to business issues. To achieve this, the School of Sustainability, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar was established in 2014. The school focuses on bringing about a transformation in society by achieving the social and environmental mission that would help the business environment be more sustainable and economically profitable.
The program focuses on key areas like climate change, sustainable leadership, and entrepreneurship, policy-making, and governance, apart from other general management courses like marketing, finance, and operations management. The Sustainability Management program by Xavier University has been ranked as India's 2nd best MBA-SM program. To have a first-hand experience of how sustainability is executed at the very ground level, where the sustainability frontiers lie, the School organizes a Sustainable Discovery Program (SDP). Its objective is to make students experience people's everyday issues and get a real feel for the effects of issues like climate change and other such issues. Corporate looks for students with skills and specialization in Sustainability reporting, sustainable consulting, green marketing, green supply resource management, carbon financing, CSR, Environment Impact Assessment reporting, eco-tourism, social entrepreneurship, human development, green building, energy audit, natural resource management, operations management, renewable energy, waste management, GIS, Sustainable business design and climate change mitigation and many more. Live projects provide the right mix of practical exposure where students can apply their subject matter knowledge. Its objective is to make students experience people's everyday issues and get a real feel for the effects of problems like climate change and other such issues. The overwhelming need for virtual access to knowledge has fuelled the establishment of a digital library on the Xavier City Campus, providing for a web-based Library Information System enabling remote access to different online library resources for authorized use by students, scholars, and faculty. Students have complete access to Bloomberg lab, EPWRF Database, Elsevier-ScienceDirect, JSTOR, E-brary, and CMIE database. This virtual access to various resources has bridged the gap between offline and online classes during this pandemic.
Summer internships develop organizational competencies, and fieldwork in various courses provides hands-on application of concepts and ideas discussed in the classroom. The two-year full-time master's program is developed with the main objective of churning out fundamentally strong, technically equipped, and industry-ready business leaders. School of Sustainability successfully hosted the third Summit this year at XUB. The summit invitees hail from the International and National Civil Society, Top Corporations, and enterprises. The program offers a holistic experience for students who are willing to make a difference in today's business environment.
