The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
My journey started a year ago when I narrowed my preferences for top B-schools in the country. It started with the IIM's and some really interesting & niche options like SCMHRD, IIFT & TISS and ended with baby IIM's. The journey to our dreams & grand ambitions are often fraught with failure but to have more than most, one must do more than most, believe more than most, sacrifice more than most. With that thought in mind, I prepared for my entrance exams.
I fared well in SNAP (99.77) and NMAT but couldn't clear further rounds of NMAT. My first interview for Symbiosis was for SIBM Pune and the first words that came out when I was at the beautiful campus were -
"Is this even possible?" The campus feels like a Bollywood set (although the work done is rather meaningful there :P). But more than beauty and the weather, the admission process impressed me the most. It was entirely student-driven, smooth and more importantly timely. The next day I was at a niche institution named SCMHRD which was unknown to me before I gave SNAP. While researching for this college I found out that it's more than HR. The placements for marketing & finance are also great and it is one of the youngest B-schools to enter the coveted top 20 B-schools in the country.
The critical moment that makes/ breaks an aspirant's dreams is the wait for the offer letter which is announced by March end. Joy or despair/smile or frown/ happiness or heartbreak, final results ensure that the above-mentioned emotions are felt all across the country. I made it in the second list and began to speculate on how the everyday life of an MBA student at SCMHRD be like( Now I know, MBA ensures no life :P ).
I reached SCMHRD on 2nd June and since then I have experienced a wide variety of myriad experiences such as outbound learning programme, the Art of living, Committee rounds and MILAAP ( senior - junior formal induction )
During the process, I have felt fatigued, sick ( literally not otherwise :P ) but I love the energy that the place has, my peers have, the seniors & faculty have and hope to emulate that.
When I reflect back, these incidents fill me with wonder on having been able to sail through them just fine. I have had days when it has become difficult to stay in this campus; the world seems restricted within it. Bad days make me want to step out even for a little while to get some fresh air and see new faces. A change is what I desire the most during those gloomy days.
Although only a month has passed and my MBA journey is left in its entirety, I feel “enriched” with several experiences that I want to share with people outside.
SCMHRD is a journey for me and I have already taken my first steps but reiterating my beliefs, there are still miles to go before I sleep and Believe me - " WINTER IS COMING" !!
