Before setting foot in IIM Raipur, my view on IIMs was that ‘All B-Schools are isolated from the intervening environments of anything that has nothing to do with management'. I wasn’t sure if I was at the right place when I entered the campus on 8
th june 2018. The fact that the campus shares its plate with IIT Bhilai & the Govt. Engineering College amazed me. I was a bit hesitant about this but later got to know the good of it – Getting to know different kinds of people and manage them in my life.
Here, at IIM Raipur, I found everything to be student-centric and student-driven, which is expected from an IIM. I am still a guest at IIM Raipur and my stay so far is a short one, but with the little experience I have with the college, I believe that student life at any IIM is incomparable to any other colleges. Sudden sessions with seniors put me on my heels. I feel this helps me sculpt my personality in the corporate world. It teaches me to ‘be ready’ for anything.
Regular interactions with seniors here have been a pleasure so far, as they are ready to make me a ‘Tested OK’ product, before letting me into the corporate world. They have been always reachable and supportive, and yes, rudely honest too, but I feel that it is for our own good. They share their experiences with us and guide us in always making the right choices. My journey with IIM Raipur so far has been a smooth one, and I believe it stays smooth throughout.
My journey to IIM Raipur is a bit different. My boat has been in the path of a storm a few times. I had difficulty in making my choices, but thanks to my friends, they were always with me. They helped me think and make right choices, which is why I am now at IIM Raipur. There were times when I lost faith in myself, but my friends always had their faith in me. That’s the same with my parents. They trusted me and gave me whatever I needed. They also tried to provide me with whatever I wanted. I would say ‘I am always the Captain of my boat, but quality inputs from my friends and my parents helped me steer my boat, the right way’.
Which ABG company I would like to work for?
If I were to work in the third largest private sector conglomerate of India, i.e., Aditya Birla Group, and I had the choice of selection, I would choose to work in ‘Madhura Fashion & Lifestyle’. I would consider myself as a fashion freak. Clothing and fashion have always been my passion. I find it the right place for me to work and perform up to my full potential. Though there are other companies that suit my interests, like Idea Cellular and Aditya Birla Capital, I would stick to Madhura Fashion & Lifestyle, as I am a firm believer of ‘
work, where you love to’.
