Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) every year in order to shortlist candidates for MBA programmes offered by various institutes affiliated to SIU.
This year SNAP has introduced major changes in the pattern as well as the dates as well as the number of attempts a candidate can undertake.
SNAP 2020 will be held on three dates
20th Dec 2020, 6th Jan and 9th Jan 2021. Out of these, candidates are allowed to pick a maximum of 2 dates for attempting the exam. Along with this, the duration of the exam has been reduced to
60 minutes, from 11 am
to 12 pm on all the test dates.
The number of questions has also been reduced to
60 questions as compared to 110 questions in the previous year. There are no special questions this year, and hence for all questions,
one mark will be awarded for every correct answer and a

Kick-starting your SNAP Preparation
It is important to realize that SNAP is a speed-based test. The goal of a candidate should be to attempt as many questions with maximum accuracy in the given time.
Here are some strategies to kick-start your preparation journey:
- The first and foremost thing you need to do in order to start your preparation is to be acquainted with the variety of topics that are included in the exam. While the topics in SNAP have a lot of intersections with the other prominent exams like CAT, XAT, etc.; a serious candidate has to be on a lookout for the topics that are not covered by these exams
- Attempting multiple mocks before the exam day is an established practice by many aspirants, but it’s of utmost priority to analyze these mocks post-test. A thorough analysis would help one track progress and set learning goals in the weak areas before the D-day.
- It’s a best practice to skim through all questions at least once before attempting questions during the mocks. One realizes that difficulty varies from question to question, and skimming helps in the selection of the right questions.
- Use the 21-day routine strategy for preparation- devote a fixed number of hours towards the preparation, while also attempting regular mocks in-sync with the exam day slot timings of 11 am-12 pm.
- For VARC, focus on grammar and vocabulary questions. Reading newspapers is an efficient way to go about things- not just reading but also noting down new words that you come across.
- You may start preparing data sets which involve approximation techniques for calculation. You also need to be very clear with your basics for the quants section. You can perform the difficult level questions as long as you apply the concepts learnt before.
- Practice mental calculation and elimination strategies during mocks to save up on time during the exam day.
