Bengaluru: Symbiosis School of Media & Communication, Bengaluru ended its Placement Season with satisfaction for the batch of 2014 – 2016. The number of pre-placement offers (PPOs) expanded exponentially this year as compared to the previous years. Some of the companies such as Quikr, Bewakoof, Wings, Kestone, WedddingSutra, YourStory were few of the new recruiters who partnered with us. Prof Vikram Sampath, Director of Symbiosis School of Media & Communication (SSMC) Bengaluru, quoted,
“This year we attempted to bring about a change in the kind of companies that we targeted. Apart from the traditional advertising agencies and PR firms with whom we have had a longstanding relationship, we also reached out successfully to e-commerce companies, start-ups, media houses, Corporate Communication divisions, CSR units, Media Planning companies, marketing, and sales divisions of companies as well as consultancies. In fact, one-third of our students was placed with start-ups which also explains why we have been keen on starting an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) to incubate new ideas. It has been a fruitful and successful year that ended on a positive note for the academic batch of 2014-16. I wish them the very best for their future.”
This year SSMC was able to build new industrial and corporate relationships through various modes like continued guest lectures (more than 50% of the faculty are industry practitioners imparting industry relevant content), live projects, events and more. The 100% summer internships also were the result of strengthening corporate relations.
TATA, Showbiz, The Print, ABB, Gutenberg Communication, Ola, Killer Jeans, Genesis, Infiniti Research, The Practice, Ogilvy & Mather, Madison PR, The Hindu, GroupM, Grofers, TimeInc, Quikr, MCann Worldgroup, ICCI, Mylan Laboratories are some of the many leading companies from the industry who recruited students of SSMC. The highest package was 11 LPA with an average package range of 4.5-5.5 LPA this year. The profiles offered included Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications, BDA, Design, Event Management, Business Analytics, Account Management, Client Servicing, Corporate Communication, Marketing, Sales, Media Planning, and Branding.
It was thus yet another batch of students that left the portals of the institute satisfied and rearing to take on the corporate world being well-equipped with the skill sets and tools required to be job-ready from their very first day.
