The story of IIMs starts with IIM C and IIM A. Subsequently, IIM B, L, K and I were established before the year 2000. Then came IIM-S in 2007 and other new IIMs in 2010 & 2011. These IIMs include Rohtak, Ranchi, Raipur, Kashipur, Udaipur and Tiruchirappalli i.e. Trichy. So what is so special about Trichy?
Let’s talk in the terminology of one of the founding members of IIM Trichy: Dr. Bhimaraya Metri who describes IIM Trichy as a place to develop (not produce) leaders of leaders. Trichy is the land which has been associated with many intellectuals and prominent scientists starting from the very beginning starting from Ramanujan. IIM Trichy is continuing that tradition of developing leaders of leaders. It is a new IIM. PGP 2018-20 will be 8
th batch passing out from Trichy.
Today world is becoming competitive. Only growth will not suffice anymore. What parameter is time and world demanding now being ‘growth rate’. IIM Trichy is the best example of that. Trichy has left behind its older counterpart Shillong in perception rankings. Trichy is growing fastest in all areas infrastructure, academics, cultural competitions, sports, etc. IIM Trichy has been the national winner for last three years in CFA Research Challenge. The credit of the success should go to faculty and students. IIM Trichy is not looking to compete with other new IIMs. We are looking to create brand value as of IIM A, B, C. We are putting bars higher every time and at every opportunity. And every incoming batch is induced into such thinking orientation sessions at the beginning of the year.
It's not the rigour what makes it Trichy unique. The academic rigour of course has to be there. But that vision and desire to become top is what makes Trichy unique. As Socrates has explained strong desire is a first and most important ingredient for any success. A person’s desire to breathe if he/she is put under the water is what helps him/her to survive and get the victory. That’s the USP of Trichy and our goal. And we are ready to give everything to achieve this common goal.
