The key to bag a summer internship in your preferred role is to wait patiently and have the faith and confidence that eventually you’ll surely get one. I did the same and finally got an internship as a Business Research Analyst in Nabler. The whole recruitment process comprised of three rounds-assignment submission, group discussion and personal interview and I successfully aced all three of them. The actual duration of the internship was three months, however due to postponement of my 2nd year classes due to the covid-19 outbreak; I extended my internship to 4 months.
I was lucky enough to start my internship at Nabler’s Bangalore unit on 4th March and have 2 weeks of normal office before the lockdown was imposed in the country. On my first day, I had an amazing induction program where I was introduced to the firm and to all the employees across different departments. It was followed by a team lunch and I started understanding why Nabler was a “great place to work” certified company.
On my 2nd day, I was assigned a “Buddy” from the marketing department who took extra care to take me through the work which I would be doing for the next few months. Over the course of the next 4 months, I was involved in a lot of work related to growth and inbound marketing such as persona creation for our target sectors, creation of LinkedIn marketing strategy, designing landing pages, keyword and hashtag research, competitor research, writing SEO rich articles, etc. Apart from these, I did a thorough research and analysis on which marketing agency to partner with for our content to be promoted to the right audience. I was also involved in devising a plan on which data analytics conferences in USA would be beneficial for Nabler to attend as a sponsor/exhibitor.
The very essence of growth marketing is to design and conduct experiments to optimize your marketing campaigns to get more leads, more conversions, more customers and finally more revenue. And I was fortunate enough to have a very supportive manager who kept on encouraging me to come up with new plans about marketing campaigns. Every Monday, we used to have a meeting with all the team members of the marketing department where each one of us had to share some new ideas about how we can generate more leads and conversions.
Though I was a bit disappointed to be working from home for the major part of my internship duration, I was amazed at how the HRs at Nabler regularly conducted virtual fun activities to keep the level of employee motivation high. These inter-departmental activities worked as big stress busters. I have always felt that the key to having a successful work culture is about how the company values its employees and not for a single day did I feel undervalued at Nabler.
What I learnt during these past 4 months is that the key to be a successful marketing guy is to come up with innovative and new ideas from time to time. You need to have the ability to learn and unlearn along the way and to never be afraid of failures while designing marketing campaigns. This amazing learning experience at Nabler would surely play a big role in my professional journey as a marketer.
