Hi, Tell us about how you got selected for this internship? Take us through the moment you realized you had got the internship.
Early in the morning, I was called by the placement team telling me I had made it to the shortlist of GSK Pharma and it was Group Discussion time. It was very early and thankfully I was fresh. With a lot of anxiety I clicked the teams link and entered the GD room. We had a case discussion on forming a GTM strategy for a vaccine for pulmonary obstructive disease. Had made three good points on how to create the awareness using VI-AR simulation and strengthening the HCP channels. Immediately post the CD, I was called for my PI which incidentally went pretty well. However, I wasn't 100% sure because lot of good candidates were there in the shortlist. After about an hour, I was called for another process, and while waiting for the next GD link, a placement committee member called out my name and said "Tank the process, you have already been selected". It was at this moment that I knew, I was about to be GSK Pharma's XCEL Intern 2021
On joining the company as an intern, how has your onboarding experience been like?
It was smooth, on-time and without any glitches in the way whatsoever. With interactive sessions scheduled with Vice President and Executive Vice Presidents of all the verticals, it was an amazing experience. We were asked to introduce ourselves to other interns using a video or ppt describing an unique thing in your personality. Then we had interactions scheduled too with relatively young employees who had traversed the journey of intern to management trainee in recent years. Overall the entire induction process was fun and very welcoming.
How has your interaction with the team members and colleagues been like? How will you make sure to leave the best impression on your supervisors by the end of the internship?
The interactions so far have been amazing and very welcoming. My guide has become like a senior to me whom I can approach for anything. She has been so helpful with explaining everything, and I completely get the feel of an employee. The transparency that has been maintained by my guide and buddy, along with other team members, are too good.
My aim to leave an impression is by making an important contribution to the project so that outcome helps my team and my research helps the team in taking the right step forward. The amount of freedom and responsibility, given to me for this project is exceptional, and I sincerely hope to deliver a good result that will help all the stakeholders of this project.
Tell us in brief, about the project you are currently working on and how is this project going to help the company?
I am working towards understanding the drivers & barriers of a pediatric vaccine which is recently faced with a stiff competition from the launch of a similar product by an Indian brand.
This vaccine accounts for 40% of the revenue earned by GSK vaccines and accounts for 60% market share in this vaccine category. Therefore, to retain the market leadership, I need to understand the current market scenario and develop some actionable plans that will help the GSK field force team convince the HCPs to not switch to the new brand and further improve the brand perception vis-a-vis its competition.
