I got selected for the internship through the placement cell. The process comprised of submitting my resume and then going through an interview process. Just like any other important moment in life, even getting the internship was a nerve-wracking moment!
On joining the company as an intern, how has your onboarding experience been like?
The onboarding experience was quite nice. We were introduced to our team leaders and how the company works. We were also taught about the different processes and portals used in the recruitment domain.
How has your interaction with the team members and colleagues been like? How will you make sure to leave the best impression on your supervisors by the end of the internship?
My interaction with the team members and colleagues has been good. Everyone is helpful and supportive. I aim to try and put forward my best foot in everything that I do here, no matter how hard it gets!
Tell us in brief, about the project you are currently working on and how is this project going to help the company?

Give us an overview of how you prepared for your summer placement season.
It was not easy. Being an ambivert, things like interviews and talking to people definitely make me nervous. But I knew to get ahead I would have to prepare a lot. So for whatever companies I applied to, I did a lot of research on techniques and questions to practice for the interview itself. Of course, I also researched the companies and what they had to offer.
Based on your internship experience till now, what are some necessary skill sets one must be prepared with before starting an internship?
Being able to communicate is the most important skill there is and to be able to ask questions/doubts. To be detail and time-oriented as well because every task given has a deadline. And of course the ability to research terms of finding solutions. Interpersonal and technical skills are equally important while working digitally.
What are some new skills that you have developed while working in the company?
Critical thinking in terms of understanding situations and trying to find solutions, collaboration in terms of working with people from different levels or functions, and receptiveness in terms of having the ability to handle the feedback that we receive from our managers or team leaders.
What are some of the challenges that you have faced in your internship and how have you overcome them?
Not knowing how to go about a certain task is quite normal. But knowing when to ask for help is very important. So being able to ask the smallest of doubts was definitely one of the challenges I faced as I'd rather try to figure things out myself than just ask. Also giving hourly updates was a challenge because you're working on deadlines and have to speak to many candidates and make trackers at the same time.
Tell us about a situation where you were complemented by your Manager for your work.
For one of the difficult accounts, I was the first one to recruit a candidate and get the ball rolling for the rest of the team.
What have been your major learnings during the internship?
I have learned a lot about how consultancy's and corporates work. There a lot of processes that go behind the smooth functioning of not only the company but also the team. As a fresher in the human resources field, it was definitely an eye opener. I got to learn about recruitment, selection, talent acquisition, hr operations, and more.
Tell us about your final presentation of the project to your manager in brief. What was the toughest question asked during the presentation and how did you answer it?
Although we didn't have a formal presentation, we were asked to talk about our learnings and experiences. The toughest question would have to be what suggestions would you give or changes you would make to the processes that the company follows. And it's quite tricky cause you never want to leave on a bad note so you'd think it's just easier to say nothing and that everything is perfect to please them. But, I was honest and spoke about how there needs to be better communication and collaboration between the team to ensure everyone is aware of what's happening.
Some advice that you would like to give to your juniors based on your internship experience.
Keep an open mind when you join any company. There's so much knowledge to absorb and make notes of whatever is told to you, you never know when it'll come in handy!
What was one of the best moments according to you during your internship?
It was when I was moved to the internal hiring team and I was able to get selections who turned into joinees.
