My summer internship was a thrilling journey, where I enjoyed learning something new every day. On the day the on-boarding team welcomed all interns, I knew this would be an unforgettable experience. I felt privileged to be associated with an organisation that aims to make a difference in the world, not just as a corporate, but also through community engagement and CSR activities.
Over the coming weeks, I learned about J&J’s leadership imperatives: Connect, Shape, Lead, and Deliver. The driving force behind J&J is its CREDO, which helps the organisation in making informed and moral decisions, while never losing sight of the end goal. Following the CREDO, J&J holds the customer in the highest regard and values its employees and stockholders, and of course, the community. These company values helped me recognise the reasons behind all successful initiatives of J&J and move in the right direction with my own assigned project.
I worked with the CLS (Deliver) team on the live project: "Cost Governance Model – Medical Supply Chain (Deliver) COGS." I had to analyse 30+ different vendors' data and help the department create a tool to monitor the expenses involved. Though it was a humongous task, I was able to derive useful insights that could aid the CLS team in decision making and budgeting for product divestitures. This project could not have been successful without the constant encouragement and valuable feedback provided by my mentor and guides.
My mentor, Mr. Prasad especially influenced me this summer. The approach he took for breaking down my project's deliverables during the mid-review taught me about the importance of being committed to thorough analysis before jumping to conclusions.
The opportunity to intern at J&J has helped me connect and work with a fantastic group of people, and I will always be grateful for it!
