Summer internship is an important aspect in B-School’s where your learnings and exposure will be doubled during these days.
For people who are marketing enthusiast will know how FMCG industry is a dream. Exactly, the same it was when I got an offer in Britannia Industries Limited for summer internship. I was so excited and thrilled to do my internship and to have a great exposure.
Due to COVID-19, I was so worried and scared about my internship because lot of places internships were getting cancelled and students did a project internally instead of internship but Britannia Industries came up with a smooth virtual internship and an equal or a better exposure than getting into the market.
INTERNSHIP INAUGURATION
Our internship inauguration was organised virtually, and we were the first batch to have a virtual inauguration. The schedule was provided to us beforehand, and we were able to interact with the top officials of Britannia Industries Limited. It was organised very well; it was a very enlightening session and had learnt a lot about FMCG industry during that week.
INTERNSHIP PROCESSDue to the pandemic our internship work was also done virtually, and I was assigned Tamil Nadu and Kerala to increase the sales, we were assigned guides and mentors to streamline us throughout the internship process. The markets were open between 6AM to 2PM and some markets remained closed as per government order due to pandemic. I was nervous but starting from my mentor till salesman everyone helped me in obtaining the required learning skills. Eventually, I was able to understand the market, about the outlets and various factors required for sales. My work would revolve on calling the various area heads, understanding the market, strategizing ideas to increase the sales and investigating data. There were also hardships like visualising markets via data and understanding the markets which was kilometres away from my place. I was also provided with an opportunity of four-day market visit where I was accompanied by salesmen and Area Head to understand the market and the ground reality.
We also had mid review where we were channelized and streamlined to concentrate on the project parameters. All the interns must make their final presentation in front of the top management sales team of Britannia. I was very nervous, but with the help of my guide and mentor I was able to present it better.
Finally a special thanks to Human Resource Team Maansi Bhasin, Harini Nagaraj for giving us this opportunity, my guide Mr. Arun Mohan and mentor Mr. Sunish Cherian who was there to support me throughout the process, Mr. Manmeet Singh who conducted us mid reviews; channelized us to obtain the best from us and finally I would like to thank all the Area Heads who helped me in understanding the business. The learnings were huge a great milestone in my life.
Thank you Britannia Industries Limited for giving us this opportunity and enhance our learning skills.
At the end of internship, two Area Heads visited my home with a big gift pack and spent some time with me and my family. It was a very nice gesture where they were able to make it even through their busy schedule.
