I was selected as an intern in MIT domain of Wipro. MIT refers to Marketing, innovation and technology and this department was recently added by Wipro to implement innovative and emerging technologies. When my project location came as Bangalore, my joy knew no bounds since I had earlier stayed in Bangalore while working in IBM. I was excited to meet my old friends, pleasant weather and more challenging works
Once we reached Bangalore, we reached Wipro’s guest house and had a warm welcome. My 1
st day at Wipro was fabulous as they had made plans of interactive sessions, lunch, group activities. In the next few days, I met my guide and was introduced to my project. I was assigned the role of a Business analyst but as I had worked in IBM earlier in similar profiles so I requested my HR for something new and challenging roles. She agreed and contacted some other guides and finally got one. He was the head of the analytics department and had an awesome personality. Throughout the day he would be busy in calls, meetings but still used to be cool-headed always.
First I was assigned to a Google Dialogflow project which would be used to save a chunk of Wipro’s flow of revenue to BPO. With the help of Google’s team, I learned how to use the Artificial intelligence based chatbot and train it for the required purpose. It took a while for the project to take momentum, so another project was provided related to attrition. My earlier experience while working in a live project for RUUH ( Microsoft’s chatbot) helped me to analyse the chatbot diligently. Within 2-3 weeks the evaluation was done, I handed over the report to them.
My second project was on attrition of WIPRO. I had to analyse the last 3 years dataset of employees and do data mining on it. I had to meet a few people to get the related employee datasets. Then I found some trends and drew out some inferences from those datasets. When I presented it, they seemed quite happy and told me to go ahead with my third project, which was forecasting the future attrition of Wipro. In this project, I had to use R and excel to make various statistical models (Linear regression, Time decomposition, random forest, K means clustering etc.) to predict the future attrition.
Meanwhile, I planned once to visit my old office and meet my old colleagues there. My guide allowed me to take 1-2 days off. It was a nostalgic day for me as I met most of my old friends there in IBM. My guide was an absolute cool man who would always entertain me with whatever issue I came and no matter how busy he was.
Finally, the D day was here. The review went well and the Q&A session also went well. There was still one and a half week left and I asked my guide for one more project as I was enjoying the work and was a bit bored of studies in colleges. I got to streamline the Master Data Management Project. It involved mapping 3 databases to the SAP database. Finally, I was able to complete the work and submit it to my guide on the second last day. On the Last day, WIPRO greeted us with interactive sessions, Souvenir etc. It was an overall splendid time in Bangalore where I enjoyed the cool summer weather, met my old friends, made some friends and learnt a lot of new things before coming back to my Home, Sweet Home.
