One of those featured in today's story, Tanvi Chaudhary, has shown an incredible amount of passion to achieve her true potential. Amongst the massive number of entries and responses being evaluated, Tanvi's story and profile stood out. Here's her story in her own words.Name an instance where you wanted something and went out of your comfort zone to achieve it OR Tell us the biggest risk you have taken so far in your life.During my final year of graduation, I was confused about the next step in my career. I had an offer from EY, and I was had to decide whether I should take that or pursue my MBA right after graduation. Finally, I decided to go for my post-graduation, give my best for the entrance exams, and fulfil my dream of getting into a top business school in the country. Managing my final year of college, extracurricular activities, and handling the pressure of entrances have been my most challenging yet enriching experiences, which taught me essential time management and multitasking lessons. When the results were released, I did not clear the cutoff for 1 section in CAT. I was highly demotivated because I did not get the call from top IIMs. However, I decided not to give up and gave my best in the interview preparation for XLRI and converted it. The ride was a roller coaster, yet something that brought out the best in me and helped me realise that everything does turn out better if you try hard and want it bad enough..When was the last time someone relied on you? OR What did you do which was purely for someone else - a truly selfless act.My mother has been my biggest supporter and has always motivated me to become financially independent. My goal has always been to ensure I can take this forward, not just with myself but with as many women around me as possible. As the pandemic hit and the informal sector was the worst affected, my house help decided to get her nine-year-old daughter to drop out of school due to the financial burden and the circumstances around. This had a profound impact on me, and I made sure that I did everything possible not to let this happen. With the help of my parents, we decided to contribute both financially and physically for the young girl. I ensured that she was able to concentrate on her studies and helped her in academic and non-academic activities. I have been working with students of all ages across NGOs to help them make a small impact in making their lives better. I have worked with Prayas for over two years, tutoring young girls from grades 6-8 and talking to them about financial literacy, soft skills and effective communication. My goal is to build a world where women feel more secure and respected irrespective of their socio-economic background, and each young woman can make her own career decisions.Tell us about a time when you disagreed with an opinion/idea/decision. What did you do about it?I have always believed and supported mental health issues and strongly disagree with the significant problem of stigma, prejudice, and discrimination against people with mental illness. This affects people's personal lives and their professional lives, and it is high time that Indian society acknowledges the gravity of the situation. Whenever I have been confronted with individuals or groups who do not understand the objective and idea behind it, I try my best to explain what it means and how we should help and support someone in need of help. I do not shy away from making a point in front of a group in such situations and have participated in various discussions and sessions on the issue. In the end, it is in everyone's best interests to support such initiatives rather than stifle progress.What is the one thing you can claim to have some level of expertise or depth of knowledge in - it could be anything - a subject, a sport, a hobby, a venture, an initiative which has led you to do deep work in that field?Being a person who loves talking to people and learning from them, I believe that I am good at people management. Through various stages and circumstances in my life, I have connected with people from different backgrounds and learnt that the best way to succeed in life is to keep learning from everyone around you and apply those experiences in real-life situations. The world today requires a constant need to change, and one must adapt as per the situation. Hence, it is important to make decisions quickly and bring out the best possible output with whatever resources are at your disposal. This is when people skills and efficiency come in place, and they are important for an organization and ones growth. Being in XLRI has led me to work with diverse teams, have disagreements, learn from them, and most importantly, build long-lasting relationships. My main motive is to use my learnings to build my analytical skills and apply innovative and technical solutions to real-life business situations.If 10 Million Dollars (approximately INR 75 Crores) is given to you to use it any way you deem fit what would you do with this corpus?Growing up in a home where I was always taught the value of money and that worldly pleasures are never the source of true satisfaction, I want to ensure that money I have is put to the best use not only for personal gains but for everyone around. I believe that real happiness only comes when you achieve something for the greater good. Given 10 million Dollars, I would carefully prioritise the money in the following ways - 1. Reinvest the money in financial instruments so that it grows and multiplies to help maximise the funds for the various causes I want to invest in.2. Invest the money in startups across different sectors which look promising in the future so that it yields high results for the development of the economy. 3. Ensuring a comfortable life for my family, who have sacrificed everything for me, building a stable future for my brother and take of their needs to remove the pressure from their shoulders. 4.
