The most exciting thing for a b-schooler is to work on real-world problems of one of India’s top federations. And what better way than to do it with case study competitions? Mahindra War Room is a unique opportunity for business school students. In this series of Mahindra Warriors, we feature the 20 teams – the finalists. The ones who have made it to the last leg of the competition. The series comprises of the Warriors’ journey. Meet the Mahindra Warriors in this series and tell us who do you think has what it takes to win this year’s Mahindra War Room. Let us know in the comments below! Introduce each member of your team! The Shanti Team, we are team which loves our chill time. Our propensity for peace and quiet, which would generally turn in loud and fast discussion while working on the WarRoom case. Abhishek, is the strategy guy in the group, with a strategy consulting background, he took the lead in devising the overarching strategy of our solution to the case. Gaurab is the finance guy in the team, a banker pre-MBA, he has a solid grasp of the financials and managed to work the financials out from all the ideas we had and put them in an excel. Avdhut is the research and data guy, he coordinated our primary and secondary research efforts and explore the insights we gained from there. Hussain, is the hands-on, on-field guy who has experience with the Trucking industry and helped build the Ideas for the case solution and bring the complete picture together.   What made you participate in Mahindra Warroom Season 11? Mahindra WarRoom offers exciting live business cases of the challenges Mahindra & Mahindra has, which challenge us to apply our cumulative learning, bring out buried inspirations, and create something that one can see implemented. And of course, it also brings an opportunity to have a shot at working for Mahindra & Mahindra in one of the most coveted general management roles in the country.   After getting to know the group better through the competition, What does Mahindra Group stand for, in your mind? The ideology behind Mahindra Rise is an inspiration. Rising above the rest, by doing what one can do, the best possible way, being better today than one was yesterday is a philosophy that resonates with us and something we try and abide by in our lives too How did you go about picking your case and solving it? Tell us a few team anecdotes. We wanted a case which would allow us all to explore our strengths and leverage our experiences in developing a sound solution. The case on Mahindra Truck & Bus, gave us an opportunity to explore an industry which has an immense impact on the entire economy and which has a complex competitive scenario and some truly brilliant players in the fray. Discussing the options, we considered the Classic Legends and the Mahindra Trucks & Bus cases as alternatives. The potential for growth and Mahindra’s advances in Trucking industry were an attractive aspect for us to explore and also brought our own experiences in to play.   How are you preparing for the finale? We are working on fine-tuning our presentation, ensuring that we have every aspect of it down pat. And of course, a few more brainstorming sessions on what questions could be asked and how we could answer them. What is the one question you would like to ask Mr Anand Mahindra when you meet him in person? India is often referred to as a start-up hub. There are several such entrepreneurs who make the shift from being an employee. Therefore, what do you think one should consciously keep in mind while making the shift from an employee to an entrepreneur in terms of their mindset?   Your plan with the prize money? We will probably use the money for a grad trip to explore the north-east of India, find some peace and quiet in the mountains before we go back to the hustle bustle, that is daily life.
