“The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: 'If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?' But...the Good Samaritan reversed the question: 'If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

“Then, whose son will you send?” This, was a son’s response to a father’s objection to the decision to serve the vulnerable of Assam. His son’s decision to leave to an alien place to rid people, he knew not of, of their worries. A decision made, very well aware of the dangers implied. The dangers of working in an area ridden with terrorism. Mr Ghose was a firm believer in working for the poorest of the poor. With this goal in mind, he decided to join IRMA in its very first batch over the well known IIMs. After his graduation from IRMA, Sanjoy preferred to work with a small rural development trust named Tribhuvandas Foundation in Anand above other lucrative government offers. He then won a scholarship to join Oxford; he could have stayed but chose to come back to his motherland. Not just come back, but also establish an organisation which would touch lives in over 500 villages of Rajasthan. Sanjoy also launched CHARKHA which was formally initiated in New Delhi with the goal of spinning action into words. After this, he decided to work in Majuli district of Assam which was affected by annual floods. The embankments built by Sanjoy and his team were successful in protecting the area. His passion was visible, when he, as an Oxford graduate, could have stayed back but chose to come back to his motherland. Not just come back, but also to establish an organisation which would touch lives in over 500 villages of Rajasthan. His passion was visible, when he could have chosen to bask in the glory of success and comforts, but chose to make the rural voices audible. His passion was visible, when even in the midst of intense intimidation; he never backed down but chose to follow the path of righteousness, even if it meant sacrificing his life. All the way to the end of his illustrious life, he had in him, a flame burning. A flame that had lit the lives of thousands, and many more. IRMA, today, is proud. For it has the fortune of calling this towering personality, an alumnus. Mr.Sanjay Ghose has been an inspiration for hundreds of students at IRMA. To the man who has lived all his life, the very ideals we uphold.

IRMA pays a tribute.
