n our society, heterosexual people have many privileges over the LGBTQ community, those who are discriminated based on their sexual orientation Or gender identity. Let me list them for you all.
1)Acceptance- The preeminent privilege, whose virtue we don't realize in our life. This privilege is most desirable for the LGBTQ community For decades, they have been fighting for acceptance from our society. It is a simple thing which they want from the people around them.
2)Freely expressing your sexuality.- For homosexual people, It is a prevalent thing to share your loved one name or your love openly. Whereas, LGBTQ people have to hide it. They can't express or convey their love for someone openly.
3)Having equal job opportunities - There is an abundant number of cases where people have been fired for sexual orientation on the rationale of "unlawful behaviour". Recently a teacher from Kolkata was fired for the same reason. I don't need to elaborate on how crucial and essential to have a job. Every day, Living in the fear of getting fired, that is one of the worst things a person has to go through.
               4) Socializing-There are no boundaries over homosexual people, they can socialize with any random group they want. At the same time, the LGBTQ people are expected to be around people of the same community.
                5) Expressing- Homosexual people can post photos with their loved ones openly on social media platforms without thinking for a minute. They can express relationship and breakup story openly and can ask for guidance regarding the same. Whereas, LGBTQ doesn't have this liberty at all. Only a small portion of people has come out openly regarding their relationship status.
6)Travelling- Everyone loves to travel and explore different places. However, LGBTQ has to be careful regarding that. The laws and rules are different in different countries around the world. Also, people of various counties react differently to the LGBTQ Community. Due to this reason, They have to think twice before travelling any place and can't express their sexual preference openly.
This list will go on. I would like you all to think over it. On September 6, 2018, The Supreme Court Of India decriminalized section 377. Giving equal opportunities and rights to the LGBTQ community. However, discrimination practices are still going on. Be it a sports field, entertainment field, corporate offices, government institutions, the LGBTQ community is having a hard time getting acceptance from everyone. We an individual should take one step forward and make sure to eradicate these discriminatory practices. #inclusivity #acceptance #iimtrichy #Prism_IIMT
