Mumbai is the financial capital officially but actually, the dream city for many and I was one living the dream after getting into NITIE, Mumbai one of the top b-school in the country defining the phrase “God’s own campus” . The vibe created was somewhat resembling like bright minds in the quest to achieve something.
My college journey started with standing in the queue for getting hostel room sharing with one guy who I don’t know and following the 5 day induction program which gave us all the whereabouts of college. Then came the schedule for the different lectures which made me more excited to interact and learn from various distinguished faculties. We spent the initial days at NITIE introducing ourselves: listening to names and forgetting them in seconds, studying together, planning which sport to play first, going out for dinner as a class of 50 people, chatting late into the night outside campus and no hurrying back to the hostels in time, not getting enough sleep due to deadline of the tasks and starting the day by standing in a queue at the canteen for breakfast. And it was new the language Marathi in the picture making the stay more interesting, was somewhat struggling but people here was very helpful. The classrooms weren’t your usual board-and-chalk enclosures; we learnt under the practical aspects! Every activity taught us some management concept which we could not have understood as clearly, sitting in a classroom. We learnt how to mind our time and to time our mind. We also realised that, as individuals, we can win games but as a team, we can win competitions. One of professor taught us how to apply the theory-based knowledge to the practical world. Constant assignments forced us to brainstorm our minds and find answers that no textbook was willing to provide so doing research was only the option. We were asked to make different presentations and find the impacts of sustainability, of price changes and the market shifts for people and places we would either not go or pay close attention to otherwise. It has been nearly a month since I joined and I have interacted with a variety of people with differing skill sets. Some would say this is hard work, others would call it is a learning experience, but as people at NITIE put it, leading industries for decades and will adhere to it.
Which Aditya Birla Company I would like to work for?
Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd
NO.1 in fashion retail in India and sells 3 garments every second.
Now, is there any need for the introduction?
From childhood only I was very passionate about what to wear because of bringing up in the family, those who love wearing and trying different types of clothes. As I grew, became more fashion conscious, tried different brands including Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and many more. I always was confused about which brand to choose because all seems competitors. But later I came to know that they all come under the same brand name ADITYA BIRLA GROUP.
Eventually, it was my dream company to work in.
