Infrastructure, sports facilities, library, etc is what sums up most campuses, but what makes my campus unique is that it has all of this and much more. Located in the dream city of Mumbai and being a part of IIT Bombay speaks for itself. This campus never sleeps-we have canteens open till 4 a.m because that’s how we work! It’s not just the studies but the extracurricular part that helps in your overall development. From swimming in the morning to wake you up to having a foosball faceoff with your friends that’s how you will end your day. Now coming to the campus itself. We are blessed to be surrounded with Sameer hills on one side and Powai Lake on the other. A thrilling trek to the top of the hill to enjoy the breath-taking view or a stroll to calm down those nerves along the lake, its upto you. A sip of chai with pakoras in the rains at Gulmohar or some yummy pizza and brownie at brews and bites. The whole campus is full of canteens and eateries each one famous for a unique dish. It’s a khau galli in itself. For me, I would say going on night walks and heading to H11 for some butter dosa to satisfy our hunger pangs is a pure bliss. There is something for everyone. World class sports facilities, well equipped library, an incubation centre for start-ups, you name it and we have it all. Access to Mumbai life with the leisure of staying on campus is the best combination. Mumbai being a prime location you can have not just lectures by great industrialists but also see movie stars coming to campus. Being in Mumbai gives you the freedom to explore the hectic local life without being completely exhausted as you have a home to come back to at the end of the day. And that home is your very own campus. Being a part of the IIT campus gives us SOMites an exposure to a varied range of perspectives and dimensions. From meeting people of different departments to sharing the stage in cultural competitions. It’s common that you go to grab a bite in between classes and end up meeting people from maths or design department. That’s where a quick break turns into epic conversations. Its the supremely talented people with a never-ending spirit to excel and keep developing themselves that make up this campus what it is. Which ABG company would you like to work for and why? Aditya Birla Retail Limited would be my first choice to work. As I moved away from home to Pune to start working in an MNC, my life was getting hectic. In such a situation, managing the house and groceries became a difficult task for us. More Supermarket was our saviour in such a situation. Being on the prime location near the Vishal Nagar bus stop, it was very convenient for us. Getting down at the bus stop on our way back home and buying groceries which were well organised in addition to hygienic fruits and vegetables made our lives easier. Being a happy customer of the company itself, I look forward to an opportunity to work for the company and contribute towards its growth. Pooja Pendharkar is a second year student at SJMSOM, IITB
