The MBA is mainly a two-year post-graduation program that helps to enhance your business, conceptual, and managerial skills in the business world. Each exam has its unique structure and syllabus. All of these exams hold one thing in common, and that is the Quant section, which is a nightmare for many students who are from non-mathematics backgrounds. Exams like CAT and XAT are a bit tricky for someone who is not well-versed in mathematics.
However, there are certain MBA entrance exams for you if you are weak in Quants and those are:
- NMAT(Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test)
NMAT by GMAC™ is the most candidate-friendly MBA admissions exam. There is no negative marking and this is an adaptive exam so it adapts to your ability level. NMAT also offers a Home Proctored Exam option, a retake option up to 3 times and, you can also choose your exam dates at your convenience. NMIMS also considers sectional scores depending on campus, whereas there are some other top B-schools like TAPMI, KJ Somaiya, and others that consider overall scores only.
- Structure: Comprising sections in Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning, with a 120-minute duration.
- Level of Quant: moderate to difficult
2. SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test)
Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is a national-level MBA entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU). Like NMAT, there is no sectional cut-off and you can take up to 3 attempts on particular dates provided by SIU. Symbiosis campuses consider only the overall cut-off and there is no sectional cut-off. Also, during the examination, you can switch between all these sections at your convenience.
- Structure: Comprising General English, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and Analytical & Logical Reasoning, within a 60-minute. Negative marking:- .25 marks.
- Level of Quant: Easy to moderate
3. CMAT(Common Management Aptitude Test)
This Test facilitates AICTE-affiliated participating Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission to the Management Courses in Indian Institutions. This exam has a negative marking of -1 for every incorrect answer. It is conducted annually around mid-May. Unlike many MBA entrance examinations, CMAT has two additional sections that are Innovation and Entrepreneurship and one General Awareness.
- Structure: Computer-based test assessing aptitude in various areas such as Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Technique, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
- Level of Quant: Easy to moderate
4. SRCC GBO (Global Business Operations)
Post Graduate Diploma In Global Business Operations is a specialized two-year postgraduate diploma offered by Shri Ram College of Commerce. It is an online computer-based test conducted every year around mid-May.
- Structure: The exam structure consists of a total of four sections: English Comprehension & Language Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Ability, and Data Interpretation.
- Level of Quant: Easy to moderate
While there are other exams like MICAT, and MAH-CET, are highly recommended by me for those preparing for getting into B-school in 2024. In case of unforeseen circumstances leading to a setback in CAT, these exams offer another opportunity to secure admission to top B-schools.
