In recent years, the technology and eCommerce sectors have seen a tremendous boost, particularly the latter owing to the pandemic-induced shift in consumer behavior. eCommerce and technology companies find themselves amongst the most valuable companies in the world by market capitalization as well as earnings. These companies are also innovating rapidly, and being great pay masters, have attracted attention as employers from management students and professionals across the globe. So, which of these companies do MBA students in India want to work with? Here's a list of the top-15 technology and eCommerce companies that MBA students from top b-schools want to work with.
eCommerce Companies More Desirable Than Tech Giants For MBA Students To Work With
Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have emerged as the top three technology and eCommerce companies that MBA students dream of working with. A notable observation is that eCommerce giants of India and the world have been ranked ahead of trillion-dollar and billion-dollar technology companies. eCommerce is the future of retail, with 95% of all shopping predicted to happen online in the next few decades, justifying MBA students' predilection for these industry giants. It must be noted that Google has only just been pipped by Amazon for the pole position, and these two companies have left all others in their wake by some margin.
Social media (Facebook) and ride-hailing companies (Uber) find themselves less preferred than other technology companies. Notably, Ola Cabs - Uber's direct market competitor in India - can be found nowhere in this list. Software companies, including SaaS giants like Salesforce also feature amongst these rankings. Recently publicly listed fashion and beauty startup Nykaa also features amongst the top fifteen most desirable technology and eCommerce companies for MBA students.
How Did We Make This Report?
In 2021, we reached out to students from India's leading business schools to understand their thoughts and preferences when it came to the campus recruitment process. In the process, we gained some incredibly valuable data, including MBA students' most preferred technology and eCommerce companies to work with after MBA. To arrive at this list of top technology and eCommerce companies to work with after MBA, a weighted score was computed.
Students responding to this survey belong to business schools like IIMs ABCLIK, as well as second and third generation IIMs. Respondents also belong to campuses such as FMS, XLRI, SPJIMR, ISB, MDI Gurgaon, SIBM Pune, IIFT, and NMIMS Mumbai amongst others. Other campuses include IMT Ghaziabad, SCMHRD, Welingkar, KJSIMSR, XIMB, IMI New Delhi, and the IITs.
