The two months of internship of an MBA program are generally the indispensable part of the journey, & mine being no exception. I had the best of learning, industry insights, marketing knowledge, ground-level knowledge, networking and a lot of memories which I can cherish for the years to come. The culture at UltraTech Cement Limited definitely embarks at its work-space with the positives such as seamlessness, integrity, passion towards work clearly visible in the work. Let me elaborate a bit on my internship experience. The internship kick-started with the two days induction program, which was very enriching, thereby giving us insights on what we were expected out of this internship, what we would learn, about the company and the industry by various heads of the organization. The induction program was, afterwards, accompanied by a small get-together at night of all the interns of various b-schools. On the third day, we were given our projects and our mentors under whom we were supposed to work. Afterwards, we were sent to our respective locations at various zones. Mine being North zone, I got Noida as my base location. On the first day at my office, I was a bit nervous before meeting my mentor, as he was the head of the regional marketing team. Meeting a person from such a prominent designation was both exhilarating and unnerving. However, unlike my expectations, the meet went so smooth, with my mentor giving me explanations on how to proceed, what I needed to deliver, etc. Working under a person of such an industry experience was no lesser than an opportunity to learn and broaden my horizons. His impeccable knowledge of relationship marketing, brand building, and other domains of marketing services helped me hone my marketing knowledge immensely during those two months. The project was an amalgamation of various aspects of marketing and required in-depth analysis of the industry trends and scenarios. All thanks to the co-workers and employees who made this journey smooth enough by providing necessary data and details at every stage. The general workforce of the company was of middle-aged people, which helped me to learn greatly from their experiences. My work demanded extensive market visits, which were made possible by the joint efforts of my mentor and the territory sales managers/executives working under him. Field research work carried out on the customers of core industry was the best learning experience on my part. It helped me to understand the nuances of marketing and getting to the depth of it. My mentor was the stern believer of learning in the grounds, and to tell, it was no surprise. My learnings through market visits were the indispensable part of this internship journey. Most of the learning happened through marketing research work in the fields. No story is complete without the support of fellows, here how can I miss the support I got from the fellow interns. In my internship, I got the chance to make friends with the best brains of various b-schools, who helped me immensely during the internship period. The constant sharing of each other's knowledge, project-related discussions, new trends in the industry helped me to boost my knowledge of the various aspects of marketing and the industry. At last, the internship ended with a review held by the heads of various zonal and central departments, who gave me their insights on the projects, useful suggestions and areas to focus more. In the true sense, these internship days have been so far the best and most enriching, learning-filled days of my life, and I’ll keep on working towards the lessons learned throughout life.
