Tiruchirappalli is a one of the oldest inhabited cities in South India. Its history dates back to the Chola Kingdom and through the World War times. Top academic institutions have been operating for a long time in Trichy and have an industrial backup to its glory. Though IIM Trichy was set up recently, the location has been of great advantage to it. But it is never a single thing that sets IIM Trichy apart from other colleges, but a combination of wide range of aspects.
The state of the art campus is just the tip of the iceberg. No other B-schools can even be compared to the facilities that IIM Trichy provides. The research and leisure centre, that is going to be operational soon, is so innovative that words like library, fun area, family area and rest area can only be used to describe a part of the heart of IIM Trichy. The history of students rising above expectation has always been the motivating factor for many students while choosing IIM Trichy.
The director’s vision of excelling the top B-schools in India might seem like a Utopian idea to many, but not to a person who has ever been to the institute or a person who has ever talked to him. The pedagogy of learning, and not teaching, has been an amazing experience and the knowledge gained is priceless. A talented pool of students who excel not just in academics but also in co-curricular and extra-curriculars are not a rare sight here at IIM Trichy. I personally was amazed at the commitment and the determination the students possess here. With a couple of years of experience in the corporate world, I could figure out IIM Trichy operating like a small corporate where everybody is a manager and every faculty member is a leader. Some extraordinary managers reflect skills of the leaders they are inspired by and these people are always on the run with club and committee activities.
The placements just seems to be a reflection of the hard work every stakeholder has made a commitment to. As the saying goes, “whatever doesn’t kill, makes you stronger”. This has never been truer. The rigour of the programme might be similar to what other B-schools might offer, but the combination of all these factors is irreplaceable and unmatchable. Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli is growing at a rate and this is just a repercussion of these selling points.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I’m particularly fascinated by Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company Private Limited (ABSTC) and the effort Aditya Birla group is putting into the research and development of different technologies. From material sciences to Engineering and Simulation technology, ABSTC has been one of the best research facilities in the country and my passion for expanding my horizon through knowledge can surely be facilitated by the knowledge centre at ABSCT. ABSTC’s works on Analytics can hopefully solve many problems that we face today and I’m confident about the company in this aspect.
