The Way IIM Trichy Geared Up For 'Sangram'

What makes IIM Trichy unique?

Sports forms an integral part of any educational institution and so it does at IIM Trichy. In the year 2018, when the batch moved permanently to the new campus from the NIT campus, people always wondered how the students would be able to participate in the renowned sport's championship “Sangram”, where all the IIMs from southern India participate. In the new campus, the sports facilities were still under development. The enthusiast participants always thought about how they could bring the best out of
themselves at the flagship event. However, as we go by the old adage, where there is a will there is a way and the participants had a lot of will to showcase in the upcoming days. The college administration helped students to get temporary facility at nearby universities, the Anna University and the Bharathidasan University, we were provided with sports equipment and were provided with grounds for football, Basketball, tennis, badminton and a cemented pitch for cricket. The next twenty days was the
part where I felt so proud of being a part of this institute. People had enormous passion, they didn’t hesitate in travelling 2 kms by bicycles or by having a run to the grounds and then practice. During all this period, there was no relaxation in classes or quizzes or the exams. People were putting all the effort in the world they can so that they can bring glory to the institute amidst the academic rigour.

For these twenty days, I witnessed the passion of my batchmates to give an enormously energetic performance for a successful Sangram at IIM Kozhikode. When we were finally there, we collectively supported each other at different games. People who were not playing any games also went to Kozhikode along with us to cheer for the teams. The battle was intense when there were crunchy situations in games but we were backed by our efforts for these days and a roaring crowd from Trichy. IIM Trichy won a gold medal in football, a silver in Basketball and a bronze in Cricket. These results were a fruit of hard work of people who chose to carry their academics along with the sports activities. They were not scared by the workload of B school and gave themselves a chance to follow their passion. In the year 2018, with most of the facilities almost ready in college, the students are really eager to elevate their performance from the last year.
