Imagine having the likes of TCS, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and Uber on your CV. Abhishek De boasts of such experience and more. He is an  HR Professional, focusing on Talent Acquisition. In today's video, we bring you insights from a recruiter who has hired some of the world's top companies. We had the opportunity to speak with him regarding his exciting career journey, and the range of companies he worked at and recruited for. From tech recruiting to non-tech recruiting, he's done it all. If you're planning for a career in Talent Acquisition, or are curious about how Talent Acquisition works, this video is certainly for you!
Abhishek De talks of how he started off with Talent Acquisition. He briefly talks of his days at TISS, and how competitions really helped him understand his peers and b school students. He says that in b school, the peer learning you get is more valuable than the grades. He even talks of how TISS sensitized and contextualized HR for various industries for him. Following TISS, he was placed in Microsoft, where he started with a Talent Acquisition role. Although he did not hold it in high regard, he soon started liking Talent Acquisition, and Tech Recruiting, having really understood what the importance of this role is for any company. He talks of his projects at Microsoft, including Springboard, a Returnship project for women who had taken a career gap and wanted to return to work. From Microsoft, he moved to LinkedIn, where he was offered a Non-Tech Recruiting role. Although skeptical at first, he soon understood the importance of recruiting Sales Professionals. He further gives insights into what makes a good sales professional. From big and growing brands like Microsoft and LinkedIn, he moved to Alcon, which was a fairly unknown company on a downward slide. Being a medical device company, marketing and advertising for the same too was a challenge. Yet, the experience was very enlightening as this was a completely different environment to work in. From there, he joined Uber. He expected a true-blue startup with no processes in place but found a very structured work environment. There, he developed something called Day 1 Induction, which helped gain many applications for Uber. Since the non-tech recruiter for Uber had left, he had to travel to Delhi, and juggle both tech and non-tech recruitment for Uber. Finally, he talks about his role with BrowserStack, and what his experience is working there. Watch this video to see Abhishek's insightful career journey. This is Part 1 of Abhishek's full interview. Stay tuned for Part 2! What's This? This is a new series of talks that we are doing amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
