We all are well acquainted with the word “Comfort Zone”, but how often do we come out of this zone? As students of a B-School, our answer would be - daily. From day one at XUB, we are constantly running out and around this zone. Thus, doing things which we thought we would never do. This started with us well-groomed in business suits standing outside the building on a hot and humid day. This weather is a trademark of Bhubaneswar. The first thing, we thought on that day was, “We have never ever done this before”, and this marked the beginning of many such days to come. In classrooms, we have done our best to solve case studies in a single day which would have had taken months to be solved otherwise and that was followed by back-to-back on the spot presentations making us sweat even in the air-conditioning. But, this isn’t the whole picture, it’s just one part of it.
Now coming to the brighter and happier side, we met many new people coming from different regions or cultures and working together with them taught us the essence of teamwork. We pulled off great and grand events where some emceed, negotiated, managed, or even became creative for the first time in their lives. Those events enriched us with experiences that could have never happened if we would have opted to remain in our comfort zones. The late-night studies, the chit-chat with friends and roaming around the campus aimlessly added to our once-in-a-lifetime experience. That is, MBA. It is rightly said that life happens outside our comfort zones because in need to grow as a person it is quintessential for us to step out and face the challenges, no matter how many mistakes we make or the difficulties we face. The mistakes we make are our best teacher as the best lessons come from our worst failures. Meanwhile, we must also not forget to enjoy the present moments which will eventually become memories.
Xamboree, the biggest cultural and management fest of XUB, is around the corner with a plethora of such first times, second times and so on. It will be a three-day affair from 27-29 September 2019 and it aims to provide a platform for students from various B-schools and other graduation institutes to witness and participate in this fest. The different schools under XUB namely, Xavier School of Human Resource Management, Xavier School of Rural Management, Xavier School of Sustainability, Xavier School of Human Settlements, and Xavier School of Commerce will organize business events like Case In Point, Business Buzz, Proact, Urbrainiac, and Spardha. These events are a coalescence of real-time management scenarios trending across the globe. They provide real-world experience in an exciting and engaging environment.
In addition to these business events, Xamboree also has various cultural events and celeb nights. The diverse committees of XUB have planned many engrossing events like ‘Dhwani', a platform for all those who have dedicated their hearts to melody and ‘Runway Roll', a fashion show, to name a few. This myriad of events from contrasting and divergent areas promises to give a heart-throbbing and mind-boggling experience to the audience and participants. The stage is all set to behold the music sensation Nucleya performing live on the celeb night at Xamboree, XUB. This 3-day extravaganza promises to be an amalgamation of fun and unique experiences for everyone who believes that everything is possible and even for amateurs with a strong desire to step out of their comfort zones. This fest leverages on us an opportunity to enhance our skills such as planning, team management, working under deadlines, managing time and multi-tasking. In short, this is a platform to showcase our talent and emerge as winners!
