A company which has such a diverse portfolio is bound to have some effect in everybody’s lives. For me, it has been the clothing brands which the Aditya Birla Group has slowly built over the years. Each of these brands caters to a specific need of mine and the best part is they never run out of options, be it casual, semi-formal or formal. My home doesn’t seem hundreds of miles away thanks to the robust connectivity of Vodafone Idea which keeps me close to my parents, relatives and friends. I stay up to date with whatever is happening around the world thanks to the country wide coverage of their mobile internet services. All of their brands reflect the deep-rooted culture which is very much prevalent in the organization. The group comes with a pedigree of more than 150 years which has given them some substance and direction when it comes to risking in an unconventional venture. With inspirational leaders like Kumar Mangalam Birla at the helm, the group is bound to prosper even more in the future and is set to occupy more spheres of our lives.
How Have I Made an Impact
I encountered my most significant challenge when I was working as an Engineer Customer Management. I had been in the company for only a month and in this infinitesimal time period only, one of our prime customers had a component failure in one of the drives supplied to them by our distributor. The machine needed to be repaired at the earliest as it was causing production loss in the tune of millions for the customer as assembly lines had abruptly stopped.
We contacted our service team to resolve the issue, but the component required was not available in India and had to be imported from France. This route would have taken a lot of time and the customer was not ready to wait and face further losses. We scratched our brains for an alternative solution and checked our stock to see if we had a new drive. We asked our distributor to purchase that drive and replace the same. The faulty drive would be fixed once the component was available with our service team. The distributor agreed and the issue was resolved in a day.
The lessons learnt were how to coordinate with different kinds of teams like the service team, the distribution centre and the logistics team to resolve the issue at the earliest and how to find different solutions for the same problem if the one solution proposed was not feasible. This is the reason why I can connect with Aditya Birla Group. For the conglomerate it has not been all smooth sailing. They have faced tough competition in each of sectors they have invested in. They have continuously transformed themselves in the face of competition and successfully diversified in various domains. They have bettered themselves time and time again with innovation and efficiency.
