“Happiness doesn’t result from what we receive but from what we give.” – Ben Carson
Team Samarthan believes in and aligns their work with the above quote. On the occasion of Christmas and New Year, Team Samarthan organised the “Wish Tree-2020” virtually. The Team contacted two orphanages in Sri City, collected the wishes of 80 children and created a well-structured and completely online platform to fulfil them.
Students and teachers of IFMR GSB and Krea University were invited to essay the role of Secret Santa’s to make the children's wishes come true. To breed a sense of familiarity, each of the Secret Santa got to know the children they were donating to a bit more through a Google Sheet comprising names, age, and wishes. The e-commerce links for the respective gifts were also provided to make the procedure seamless for the volunteers and for logistic convenience. The volunteers aka Secret Santa’s really stepped in and went out of their way to contribute, donate and gift the children. They say pictures speak a thousand words, and the images of the children receiving their gift spoke a million!
A “Wish Tree-2020” was also organised virtually for the alumni of IFMR GSB in collaboration with the External Relations and Alumni Committee. This was the first time Team Samarthan conducted an event for the B-school’s alumni. The Team contacted two orphanages in Punjab and Ranchi, collected the wishes of 54 kids and created a well-structured platform to fulfil their wishes.
Team Samarthan left no stone unturned to bring a smile to these children's faces even during such challenging times. Memories of putting these plans to action and spreading happiness are truly things Team Samarthan will cherish for a long, long time.
