Why And How I Chose IIM Shillong
As an MBA aspirant, it’s a dream come true studying in IIM Shillong, one of the best B-school in India. The motive is not only to become the best manager after graduating from this college but also to become a better human being with strong morals and values. Before coming to this college there have been many instances in my professional career in Larsen and Toubro Ltd. where I did not compromise with my values. And after reading about mission and vision of IIM Shillong, I did not give a second thought of not joining this college.
Also IIMS has one of the eminent personality of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam as a visiting faculty. Although I did not get a chance to be taught by him but he has left a permanent mark in this college with his values which my college still follows and impart the same values to every participant who joins IIMS.
Like any other IIM, this campus is also a student-driven which gives the opportunity to learn micro-managing skills from the very start of the two year course. Having a diversified batch, we get a chance of peer learning and we are encouraged to learn from each other by working in various groups. There are many non-engineers in my batch from whom I can learn a lot (since I am an engineer and also it is not like engineers taken are not top notch :P).
Shillong is a city which has a vibrant culture and socially responsible citizens. Not only Shillong is the clean city but the whole state is very clean and green. People are aware of their surroundings keeping garbage cans made of bamboo and try to use minimum plastics. One of the attributes which can attract anyone is the location of the campus where we call it ‘Campus in Clouds’. After surviving the Chennai’s heat for three years (phew!!!), I am living in heaven now. Weather changes many times without any predictability. In the end, this is one of my decision to join this college and I know when I will leave this place I will be carrying lots of unforgettable memories with me.
Aditya Birla Capital
I have worked for three years in L&T where I have learned to work under continuous pressure adhering to strict deadlines. Patience is my strong suit and I do not lose my cool under pressure. This attribute in me has encouraged me to pursue my MBA in finance. Having an engineering background, learning finance and grabbing a job in my dream company Aditya Birla Capital is a big challenge and I am up for it. This challenge and following my dream is motivating me to work harder and come out in the end of two years with flying colours.
