How I Broke All The Rules To Live My MBA Dreams

So I started preparing for GATE knowing that it wasn't meant for me. Sometimes you are good at something, but it doesn't mean you take it forward. I always wanted to be a leader of change; a person who can be a game changer, which I thought only an MBA can bring.

By the time I realised that I want to pursue an MBA, CAT 2018 was 2 months away. I had no idea how to start with my prep as I was until now I was focused only on GATE. So on 24th August, 2018 I left my preparation for GATE and suddenly switched to one of the most demanding competitive exams across the country.

It was Aug 28, I pondered the whole strategy how to start with and how to cope with people's bullies of my opting out from placements and GATE preparation. You always have two options this time: 1st; Go and chase your dreams and 2nd: Step back.

I gathered the courage and restored my energy for preparations and got myself enrolled to ENDEAVOR Coaching, Bhubaneswar. The course was way ahead and I was too worried as to how I would cope with the lagging syllabus. But I had decided, "Ab to karna hain boss, kitne bhi raate tyaagni pade." So I paced up and started studying even during the night. My schedule included 14 hours of studying because I need to manage my college timings. CAT was 10 days away and I started giving mocks. Here I did the blunder of not analyzing the mocks and hence I messed up with my CAT 2018.

I felt a bit depressed, but this is the time "Where you can flourish or perish." So I decided let's focus on other exams like XAT and CMAT. Worked on my weak areas and there was just one thing I did - practice and practice and practice. Till then, I received calls from two Best B-schools of the country, SP JAIN and GIM Goa, (both profile based though) that gave me a reason to work harder and smartly.

I appeared XAT. It went well but was determined that CMAT had to be the best of my attempts. Those 10 days from XAT results to CMAT exam, I was proud as I gave 10-12 hours of genuine hard work and hence scored well in that. Scored 97.8 percentile in CMAT 2019 with almost 100 percentile in quants section.

I received calls from SP JAIN, GIM Goa, KJ Somaiya, IMT etc. and converted IMT, GIM Goa till date.

In fact, received a scholarship from GIM Goa to study there.

It is the consistency that let you drive your dreams. There are always failures but how you respond to it is much important.

Always remember that DREAMS DO COME TRUE IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SACRIFICE EVERYTHING FOR IT.
