The little idiosyncrasies that we get used to, the nuances of each personality - is what makes this MBA experience a delightful one.
I take this opportunity to introduce you to 2 of my crazy but amazing batchmates:
Subramanya G Shetti:
“Wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure.”
Subramanya G Shetti, with his wise-cracks that make us double over with laughter, is the ray of sunshine that adds the much-needed cheer in our hectic lives. Once somebody asked me “How do you read so many books?”, to which I replied, “Depends on your interest.” Subramanya, who was standing nearby, said, “Mine is 8.35, SBI.” Witticisms are his forte, alright!
A beautiful soul inside out, Subramanya’s ebullience makes our life a little bit better every passing day. The best part about Subramanya is that he is someone we can count on to give us an honest opinion about everything. With beliefs rooted in his humble upbringing, his dedication and love for his family make him something of a role model in our eyes.
All this and he keeps excelling in academics too (Yes, he is one of the toppers of our batch!). He also happens to be well informed about the current affairs of the country and beyond. This guy has been my inspiration from the word go.
Jyotisman Kashyap Sharma:
“Like most creative people, I don’t fit well into boxes.”
Jyotisman certainly does not fit into any box I know of! Hilariously random in coming up with ideas from nowhere, his fierce loyalty to the people he cares about is a quality that I find admirable beyond everything else.
A passionate photographer by choice, this guy’s creativity knows no limits. One of the most unorthodox thinkers I have ever come across, Jyotisman’s out-of-the box ideas, will leave you gobsmacked! Hailing from awesome Assam, Jyotisman never stops dreaming big. He aspires to be a successful entrepreneur in the North-East and take this part of the country to greater heights. Jyotisman’s biggest strength lies in his perseverance- I have never witnessed him lose his cool under any circumstance, no matter how bad the stress is (yes, in a B-School, it does get stressful at times). He is one of the most-liked people on campus-blithe, gregarious (yet not overtly so) and steadfast. Jyotisman is indeed, one of a kind.
This campus has given me an eye-opening experience. It has brought me in proximity to people from different cultures, ethnicities and value systems and helped me put things into perspective. I will forever be indebted to IIM Shillong for all it has given me.
Which ABG company would you like to work for and why?
Considering my work experience in the FMCG industry (Ice-cream, Frozen Desserts), I have developed an avid interest in this sector and would love the opportunity to work for Aditya Birla Retail Limited. The rationale also lies in the fact that I can not only use the knowledge I have acquired while working in this industry, but also the exposure I have gained during my 2 years in IIM Shillong, to carve out a niche for myself in this segment.
