My selection process had three rounds. The first one was a group exercise round. The second one was about myself and a bit about Deloitte and the third one was an in-depth interview to assess my work experience and fitment to the company. I gave my best and was soon selected to intern with Deloitte.
Internship Overview
My overall internship was flawless and sublime. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship experience than what I witnessed at Deloitte. More so because I got the opportunity to intern on a project which I was really passionate about. It belonged to Talent Acquisition – a domain of HR which is of immense interest to me. The support that I got from my mentors, sponsor and buddy was very positive and they guided me throughout my internship. They gave me the freedom to interact with as many people as possible and helped me explore every dimension of the company.
Having completed my nearly two-month long internship, I learnt that Deloitte and similar companies have a very different view of the market than the conventional industries. Primarily so because they dive deep into research and express their findings very analytically. Deloitte’s reports are the largest accessed reports by most companies across the globe. Also, I learnt that HRs need to grow and evolve and shed their outdated ways of performing human related tasks.
Support of Academics
The academic rigor at SCMHRD helped me build my ideas around various aspects of HR. The guidance of faculties and the resources provided by the institute helped me shape my views on various topics and roles of HR. I was able to use a lot of this learning during my internship and it enormously helped my performance.
Parting Suggestions
In terms of my suggestions to juniors, I would say that be prepared for anything that comes your way. Focus on yourself and your preparation, irrespective of who gets what. When the ball is in your court, you must know which way to hit it. Do not take internships or the preparation lightly. Companies like Deloitte rub you hard until you prove your mettle and earn your internship. In the end, it is always about your performance, your ideas and your thought process; nothing else matters. So go out there and give your best!
